Obus selected for SA emerging players team
May 27th
WARINGSTOWN have congratulated Obus Pienaar on his call-up to the South African Emerging Players squad.
The 21-year-old, who has made a sensational impact at The Lawn since his arrival in April, will take part in a three-week tournament in Australia during August.
Waringstown captain Kyle McCallan said Pienaar fully deserved the recognition from his country.
He said, “On behalf of everyone at Waringstown Cricket Club I would like to congratulate Obus on his well-deserved call-up. It is no surprise to anyone at Waringstown, or indeed anyone who has seen him perform for us so far this season, that Obus has been given recognition by his country. He is a hugely talented young cricketer who has the ability to go all the way to the full South African international side.
“While we will be disappointed to lose his services later in the season, we look forward to him continuing his brilliant form over the next couple of months. It would be nice to think that Obus’ performances for Waringstown have played even a small part in his call-up.”

WCC XI v Dundalk CC
May 16th
A Waringstown team that included a mixture of old heads and some new ones defeated Dundalk CC at the Lawn on Sunday by 100 runs. Top scores for the Waringstown XI were David Dennsion 50 retired, Noel Nelson 50 retired and Adam Dennison 32 with Waringstown posting an impressive 220 for 7 in the allotted 35 overs. In reply Dundalk got off to a great start but then were pegged back by some fine bowling from Adam Dennison 3 for 18 and off spinner Stuart Harrison 4 for 26. A great day was had by all and a special thanks to the umpires Cyril Vennard and Reggie McNally and also our magnificent Ladies Committee for the tremendous food that was served during the interval.
