Abbi Harrison struck a brilliant hundred as our women’s first eleven won a thrilling Gallagher Cup tie at Muckamore on Sunday.
Abbi made exactly 100 from just 82 balls, including 12 boundaries, as we piled up 192 for two in 30 overs batting first at Moylena.
Abbi shared a remarkable opening partnership of 173 in 27 overs with Penny Speer, who herself made an unbeaten 58 from 91 balls.
Muckamore certainly didn’t go down without a fight however, reaching 100-1 in the 18th over before Luca Derby (2–35) picked up the crucial wicket of Oshadi Ranasinghe.
Waringstown’s bowlers held their nerve under pressure in the second half of the Muckamore chase, with Rachael Harrison (0-18) and Penny Speer (1-25) particularly economical as the home side finished on 182 for seven.
The margin of victory was just 10 runs for the holders.
Well done to Abbi, who was player of the match, and the rest of the team
